How to choose a broker by your needs instead of searching for the ‘best broker’

A practical process for comparing Exness, Vantage and XM by account structure, costs, products, funding and trading style instead of a generic ranking.

Yoshi illustration about choosing a broker by practical requirements

The question “which broker is best?” often produces a long ranking without helping a trader make a decision. A more useful question is:

“For my instruments, capital, holding style and payment needs, which broker structure fits better?”

Yoshi places Exness as the first broker to explore, with Vantage and XM as clear alternatives to compare. That is a content/commercial journey order, not an absolute quality ranking.

Step 1: define what you actually trade

Write down a few requirements:

Without requirements, a broker comparison easily becomes marketing rather than decision support.

Exness — the first route to explore

Exness currently offers paths including Standard, Standard Cent, Zero and Raw Spread. Its Standard page currently describes spreads from 0.2 pips with no separate commission, while Zero/Raw Spread use different cost structures.

That makes it possible to start from a concrete question:

Exness also states that deposit and withdrawal requests can be made 24/7 and that more than 98% of withdrawals are processed automatically. Automated processing does not mean bank settlement is always immediate; the payment method and bank can still affect arrival time.

Vantage — useful for Standard STP vs RAW ECN comparison

Vantage is worth comparing when you want to examine Standard STP versus RAW ECN, platform choices and region-specific funding. Current official pages contain differing starting-deposit figures in some account contexts, so Yoshi does not force them into one universal number.

Vantage’s policy currently states that withdrawals are generally processed within 24 hours, while receipt can take about 1–7 business days or more depending on method; bank wire generally takes 3–5 business days or more.

XM — a clear entry threshold for Standard/Ultra Low

XM’s current Vietnamese account-types page lists a USD 5 minimum deposit for Standard and Ultra Low. That is an easy-to-understand account-entry threshold, but USD 5 should not be interpreted as a universally adequate risk budget for trading.

XM is worth comparing if Standard vs Ultra Low and a small account-opening threshold matter to you, followed by checks on spread, swap, instruments and payment conditions for the exact entity/account.

Step 3: compare total cost for your style

Do not use one “spread from” column. Compare:

Spread + Commission + Swap + trading frequency + holding time.

Scalpers may focus on spread/commission. Swing traders need to include swap. Gold and index traders should verify the exact symbol instead of inferring costs from EURUSD.

Step 4: separate funding into two time layers

Separate:

  1. broker processing;
  2. bank/payment-provider settlement.

A broker can process the request quickly without controlling every part of the banking/payment network.

Step 5: inspect the contract for your main instrument

If you mainly trade XAUUSD or NAS100, fields such as:

can matter more than marketing features you do not use.

Step 6: eliminate brokers using must-haves first

Examples:

If a broker misses a must-have, remove it before comparing nice-to-have features.

If you are still unsure

Use a simple order:

1. Exness — identify the account path that matches your needs.
2. Vantage — compare Standard STP / RAW ECN and funding.
3. XM — compare Standard / Ultra Low and entry threshold.
4. Broker Fit — if two options remain close, enter your own must-haves.
